SENIOR STUDENTS ONLY ALL 9th through 12th grade students need to fill out and submit ISEF forms in order to advance to SLVSEF. If you are in grades 9-12 and are planning on participating in SLVSEF, you should go to isefa.heroku.com (a new site we built for this purpose) and create an account so you can get this process underway.
Once you are logged in the site, you’ll answer a few questions about your project to determine which ISEF forms are required. From there, you can download blank forms, fill them out using a PDF reader application, digitally sign them (or print them off, sign them and scan them), and then upload them for approval.
Registration for SLVSEF will open on February 10th. All students must have a username and password to register. The username and passwords will be handed out at each district science fair to qualifying students. If you have questions about registration or you've lost your username or password, please contact us.
Submit your project paperwork for pre-approval to avoid chaotic deadlines in March. You’ll get that warm fuzzy feeling knowing that everything is filled out correctly! Either email your paperwork to registration@slvsef.org or, if you happen to know what a fax machine is, you can send your paperwork via an old fashioned facsimile to 1-866-255-6028 and LOL at how people did things back in the day.
Senior division students—download the 2012 Intel ISEF Forms, the Rules and Regulations and the Student Handbook below. Please note: these forms are for SENIOR DIVISIONS STUDENTS ONLY. Elementary and Junior Division students (grades 5-8) do not need to fill out these forms.

The Salt Lake Valley Science and Engineering Fair (SLVSEF) is one of four Regional Science Fairs in the State of Utah. If you are in 5th-12th grade attending a private, public, charter or parochial school in the Salt Lake, Tooele, Granite, Park City, Canyons or Murray School District, you are eligible to compete at SLVSEF. You must first compete at your school and/or district science fair and then advance to SLVSEF using the user name and password for registration that you receive from your school. If your school does not hold a science fair, please contact Jody to discuss options for you to participate.
A science fair project is an exciting thing! Pick a topic and ask a question! It's that easy! Any topic that interests you can be turned into a science fair project. Airplanes? Roller blades? Fish? Dogs? Baseball? All involve science or engineering. Formulate a hypothesis!
Enlist the help of your English and Math teachers as well as your Science teachers. Your English teacher can help you with putting together your background research paper and writing up your notebook and backboard. Your Math teacher can help with the planning of experiments and analysis of data.
Be creative with your subject and project. Experiment with different concepts and ideas. The more innovative you are the better.
The registration deadline for the Salt Lake Valley Science and Engineering Fair is March 5th. All required paperwork and the online registration form must be completed by then to participate at SLVSEF. For additional registration information please contact Jody at (801) 585-9109.
